Brew Craft Beer Pub– 107 The Strand, Tauranga, New Zealand
Service (3.5/5)
Staff were probably busy but someone should be out on the front to welcome new customers in. They took our orders and made great suggestions for drinks (more on that later).
Food (4/5)
What made us come here was the fact there was a blackboard saying $20 Ribs (It’s usually $28).
I ain’t gonna say no to Ribs, we keep walking along the Strand to see if there was anything else that caught my attention but no. My mind and stomach had made up its mind on the ribs. Who doesn’t love ribs? Seriously?
RIBS were all go! I counted 8 pieces and each one was braised very well. But what made it was the special BBQ sauce. I don’t know what was it in but it was finger licking good! My one drawback is that they should provide a hand washing bowl cause I got very messy like a toddler, I was tossing my hands around aimlessly hoping not to touch anything but you end up touching everything anyway.
Their lamb shank (we got 2) were left to be desired. Needed a bit more seasoning and we used the Rib sauce on the shank to give it the kick it needed. It was $33 for two lamb shanks, I would have just stuck to one shank in this case but it was filling no less.
We ordered a small fish and egg appetiser which was presented nicely and was a nice way to start before ravaging the ribs.
The Croucher beers we ordered were great and NZ made too. We had a craft brewed beer that had a hint of lychee which had a nice sweet tinge and made it very easy to drink.
Ambience (4/5)
You’re sitting outside the Strand and on a nice sunny day, you want to be outside. However there can be annoying flies waiting to dive into the ribs. The inside was what you’d expect from a typical pub and had a high ceiling which reminded me of a barn.
Verdict (4/5)
Come here for the ribs and the Croucher beers, they go hand in hand. It’s a great way to either start a long night or just relax and enjoy the view while you eat the ribs dipped in their special BBQ sauce.
Recommend –Yay
Mmmm…I find it very hard to say no to ribs too. That looks like a nice amount. We usually go to Lonestar if we’re going out for ribs and their ribs are huge. I can never finish a portion. Luckily, they let you take leftovers home. Great for a feral midnight snack.
